Today, Stuart, Mallory, and I worked on our 20% Project. We worked on our power point for our presentation. We have really got it working good! Also, construction has been started. The Stretcher will be finished by Christmas break. There was a lot of noise this 20% day, because we are all excited to leave for Christmas break. Today, I did my slides and sent them to Mallory. She is going to put all of our slides together to make a big final presentation. Also the modeling for the stretcher pictures will be taken over Christmas break and we will have videos in our final presentation. I think we are very ready for this presentation and everything will run smoothly. The presentation will be a success if we all practice our slides and we should have the presentation great, and after Christmas break we will be able to bring in the final draft of the Stretcher.

20% Project Friday December 13
Today, we worked on our 20% project's final presentation. We also went over some things. Mallory was unable to start the construction because of a cheer competition. We will have The Stretcher completed by Christmas break, so when we come back for the final presentation, we will be able to show pictures of the model. Also, over Christmas break Mallory will get her friend from cheer to model The Stretcher and show how it really works. Also during 20% time today Bailey, a girl in our class, is doing her 20% project on a Zombie movie. She practiced her make up skills on Stuart and I's wrists. The cuts look very real. Now getting back to the Stretcher, we have our model laid out and we are ready to start construction. The construction and the materials due date are a little behind but that is okay, as long as we will be done by the end of the semester. All in all, the Stretcher will be done by Christmas break!

20% Project Friday December 6
Today, Mallory, Stuart, and I used the white board to draw a two dimensional model of The Stretcher, using expo markers. We drew the block of wood over the door. The block of wood had the eye screws in it, with the carabiners and the two pulleys. Attached to the pulleys we had the rope with the foot hole on the left side. (The foot hole could also be used for arms or any other body part you want stretched.) This was our front view picture, our side view picture consisted of the washer, with the flat rope tied in a knot with it. We also did some planning for our end of the year power point, we decided that Mallory's slides would be on: supplies, construction, resolved hook issue/replacement. Stuart's slides would be on: due dates, changed supplies=changed money, and the hook. My slides will be on: model slide, tips, how to use it. Then, we are all going to participate in the summary slide. Also, The Stretcher is not constructed due to the fact Mallory had the flu.

20% Project Friday November 22
Today, it is just Mallory and I doing the 20% time, Stuart is absent. We have figured out our hook problem. Instead of hooks to latch on to the wooden block, we are going to use screws. This will allow The Stretcher to hold more weight. Also, Mallory brought in some of the supplies we will be using for The Stretcher. She brought in a rope, a pulley, two eye screws, a carabiner, a plastic holder for the foot (for comfort), and a wooden handle. We also emailed Stuart, all about what we did today, so she could participate in 20% time as well. The supplies allowed us to get a good look at what The Stretcher may look like. Also, Mallory gave us back some of our money, because she did not have to order the pulley. Mallory's mom found some pulleys for free! The picture I am posting with my blog this week is a part of The Stretcher, that allows it to hold a lot of weight, we are making efficient changes to The Stretcher each week. We will be back on schedule this week, but we are still unsure about when Mikaela will be modeling The Stretcher.

20% Project Friday November 15
Today, we got all ready for our upcoming presentation to the class. We made a lot of decisions, we will each speak about two slides. Mallory is the one who put together all the slides we separately did. We all researched our own category, Mallory did her slides on construction of The Stretcher and such. Stuart did her slides on the money part of our project. I did slides on the benefits of stretching and how to avoid injuries like: tears and pulled muscles. Stretching can help your balance and flexibility, so try to stretch for at least 10 minutes a day! So, now all the slides are together on using keynote, we made a fantastic presentation on The Stretcher, we all really hope it will encourage people to stretch. Stretching is a very important necessity to athletes. We hope to have a great presentation and get everyone excited about The Stretcher. The outcome should be great and very informative.

20% Project Friday November 8
Today Mallory, Stuart, and I prepared for our presentation coming up. We our making a power point presentation for our presentation. The presentation will update everyone on The stretcher and will tell everyone about our final presentation at the end of the semester. The powerpoint was made by all three of us. We each made two slides each. My two slides were about the benefits of stretching. I also mentioned tips about stretching. The power point is very informative about The Stretcher and stretching in general. Also, we are almost finished with our payments so Mallory can order some supplies soon so we can get started on our rough draft. We have each brought in one dollar and forty four cents for two weeks and this coming week should be our last payment. We are also going to finish our powerpoint this coming Friday, November the fifteenth. The fifteenth is also the day are final payments are due.

20% Project Friday November 1
I did not get to participate in 20% day today, due to that fact I became sick at school, but Mallory and Stuart gave me a summary of what decisions they made this week. They talked about the model issue, money, and the end of the semester presentation, where we will present a finished Stretcher and demonstrate how it can be used. Everyone brought in their money this week, one dollar and forty four cents. Also they discussed a new issue. There is an issue that we forgot a hook to hold up the project, but Mallory said she found one that may or may not work. Also, Mallory asked on of her friends from cheer to be our model to demonstrate how the stretcher will work. Also, they said during the presentation that we will give tips on stretching, for example never stretch while you are cold. Always warm your muscles up before you stretch.
20% project Friday October 25
Today Mallory, Stuart, and I made a new schedule. A schedule will help us to organize our time so we can meet our deadlines. To get all our money in for the supplies The Stretcher calls for, we all decided we would each bring in one dollar and forty four cents per week, for three weeks. This will amount to thirteen dollars, which is the cost needed for The Stretcher. We should have all our money in by the fifteenth of November. Then Mallory is going to order the supplies from home. It was decided that the supplies should be in by November twenty second which will allow us to start making The Stretcher so we can have a rough draft to experiment on. We also decided to get a athlete to come and be our model and show how The Stretcher is going to work. That will be in December though.

20% Project Thursday October 17
Today Mallory, Stuart, and I didn't have much time for 20% time but we managed to get some things done we figured out that Mallory has some wood already, so we do not have to buy the wood anymore. This will make our invention less expensive, which is good for people who would want to actually use The Stretcher to stretch themselves before they perform a sport. Also, we have been looking at the design for the stretcher. We also have a survey for people to fill out. The survey mostly is for athletes, because The Stretcher is designed to help athletes stretch. Also, Mallory has mad a sketch of the design of the Stretcher. This will allow us to start purchasing our supplies needed for The Stretcher soon. Also, we are looking for the tubing needed for The Stretcher at target and Home Depot we will all be making a trip to theses stores soon to look at prices and possibly purchase put supplies needed.

20% Project Friday October 11
Today Mallory, Stuart, and I researched and made decisions for our 20% project the stretcher. We decided on what products we will need for this project. The materials are zinc platted fixed pulley, black block of wood, over the door hangers, and then regular rope. The wood will be 25 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. The wood will cost twenty five dollars. The pulley is two inches and it will cost five dollars and we are ordering it from www.hardware.com. The money will be split between all of us. For the rope, we are going to Home Depot this weekend to look at prices, but not buy anything. For over the door hangers, we will purchase them from Target. The items will be purchased by late October or November. In December we hope to have a model of this project. The items will be purchased and the money will be split between all three of us.
20% Project Friday October 4
Today my group, Mallory, Stuart, and I created a new design for The Stretcher. The new design called for new materials. The new design needs a wooden or metal bar. Also, the elastic tubing will not be needed for this project anymore. The elastic tubing would not have offered the maximum amount of resistance for our stretcher. The elastic tubing would not let your arm or leg be pulled it only gave in to the resistance your leg was causing. In the new design, the wooden bar will be hung or nailed to the wall over the door by screws. We then will attach the pulleys to the sides of the bar. Finally we will string the rope with a hole on one end so you can put your foot through in one end and hold on the other end to stretch yourself. This is the new design for The Stretcher.
20% Project Friday September 27
Today me, Stuart, and Mallory researched for our project, The Stretcher. We figured out the supplies we need for this project. We are going to uses elastic tubes (resistance bands) and a stretch strap. A stretch strap is a braided rope with two hoops at the end. We cam across the stretch strap while we researched for our project. The stretch strap is great for our project because the hoops allow you to put your leg or arm through the hoop. Putting your leg or arm through the hoop will allow the stretcher to work properly. We are going to buy the rope and elastic tube in bulk, so when the items arrive they can be shortened so that the stretcher can be used effectively. We hope to have the these materials plus the stretch strap by October or November. We also set up a calendar for our project today. By December we should start working on the first draft of The Stretcher and fix any problems or kinks.
Friday, September 20, 2013
Today is September 20, 2013. Today, Mallory, Stuart, and I measured a door and figured out the materials. The door measured out to be about 82 inches. We will have to have a rope that is 83 inches and the remaining elastic will be 56 inches. These are two materials we will need to complete our project, The Stretcher. The Stretcher is designed to help athletes stretch, and the rope and elastic are definitely good materials for stretching. By measuring the door today we were able to estimate the lengths of our materials. The door is also one of our materials, which we will attach our project to. The project will help you manipulate certain muscles to stretch them. We will attach a rope and elastic to the door, in which you put a leg or arm in to help you stretch it out. Each week Mallory, Stuart, and I will continue taking measurements, doing research on stretching, and collecting information about all our materials.
